Steven Wright Clarkson

Thank God from whom all blessings flow. You have arrived at Steven Wright Clarkson's home page. Steven is a Christian artist and author who records, produces, and writes devotional music for relaxation and reflection. Whether is solo mandolin, world music, or fusion you are looking for, you have come to the right place (64 tunes in whole). All the songs on this site are offered for free - my gift to you as the Lord has gifted me with so much.

What one fellow mandolin player said from mandolin cafe: "Thank you so much for the free download. The music is some of the most beautiful mandolin music I have ever heard. Gorgeous melodies and beautifully played."

My work with the Indian Classcal instruments (Tanpura and Tabla) can be found at other sites on the internet including iTunes. I wanted to present a more consistent sound on my website. Thus the reason for removing these songs. "Journey of a Christian Heart", the only album I had professionally mastered, contains much of my work with these Indian Classical instruments.

I you feel like donating to this site, there is a secure place to do it. If you would like to be added to the links section, send me an email and I will consider it.

I have posted some pictures of Glacier National Park and Big Bend on the "Travels" section of this site. Feel free to copy these and use them as you like.

I have also written a book which is also described on this site. There are a few reviews posted there as well.

Steven's main instrument is the mandolin which he has been playing since 1996. Steven hopes that your time here is filled with peace and joy.

The picture above next to the dove was of a full moon which I photoshoped a few years ago. It was on the cover of my first album. (8MB version available for sale ($6))

Please remember the music and writings on this website are copyrighted material. It is for the sole use of the folks who download it. If you want to send friends and family to the site, please do.

God Bless You!

What's next?

First payment for my book

Yep. I actually sold some copies last year and should be getting the first royalty check this month (May 2012). A labor of love for sure.

New album in the works

"The Tulip and the Crane" (second album of 2012) named after some recent origami projects with my kids is in production. The first track, named for the title of the album, is already posted. Hope you enjoy it.

The Calm of the Dog

First album of 2012 - 14 tracks, many using a volume pedal - I think you will enjoy it - it is free to download or stream. It's in the "New Music" page of this site. Praise our risen Savior and His perfect Father!

Musical Journey

I have been on quite a musical journey over the last 17 years of playing mandolin and before that alto sax and guitar. The mandolin portion of that journey is captured on this website.  All the tracks on this website will remain free and I would also appreciate a donation if you like the music. I want to thank my Father in Heaven and His risen Son for the fortitude and ability They have given me to stick to recording so much music. I would also like to thank them for the people that helped me on this journey.

This is what I live for

Romans 8:1-17

8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
8:3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do: by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and to deal with sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,
8:4 so that the just requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
8:6 To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
8:7 For this reason the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law--indeed it cannot,
8:8 and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
8:9 But you are not in the flesh; you are in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
8:10 But if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
8:11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you.
8:12 So then, brothers and sisters, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh--
8:13 for if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
8:15 For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, "Abba! Father!"
8:16 it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
8:17 and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ--if, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.

Suffering

Romans 8:18 (King James Version)

18For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Food for thought

Luke 6:27-36 (NRSV)

"But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. Do to others as you would have them do to you.
